QUOC BAO NGUYEN
I treat medicine as simply as one of many decisions I've made throughout my life.
The interactions with people and the intellectual challenge it demands are what keep me on this path.

I don't know what the future may hold, but I'm enjoying the journey so far!

Why...?
...neurology
- Trigger my curiosity - History taking and physical examinations are extremely important, even in the era of technology - Rapidly growing field When I was in my fourth year of medical school, one of my friends told me about Coursera and I enrolled in a medical neuroscience course on that platform. That decision was life-changing. I gained new insights into how the body and mind interact, and I was able to explain several daily phenomena. I recall not attending school and instead staying home to watch material videos like a child. That course significantly impacted my decision to pursue a career as a neurologist. However, a mere feeling of liking something is not the same as actually liking it. To test my decision, I took as many neurology rotations as possible after graduation. I soon realized that physical examination and face-to-face interaction are crucial in neurology, even in the era of rapidly advancing technology. Don't get me wrong! I believe that these two aspects are essential in any medical specialty. Perhaps the people I met during this journey may have cultivated my desire to join this community. As an always-try-to-do-something-new person, who sometimes annoys others with my excessive questions, I appreciate that the field of neurology is constantly evolving. The opportunity to learn and explore new things is always present. Artificial intelligence is being integrated into many healthcare systems for various aspects of neuro care, such as stroke and genetic therapy. With the help of technology, neurology is advancing faster than ever, and I am eager to be a part of its future. I look forward to seeing how I will grow as a person during this journey.
